The most common types of camera bags, camcorder bags and backpacks are those made with water resistant nylon or canvas fabric. Whilst all manufacturers aim to have zero problems or defects, the best they can do is take every caution possible to closely manage the manufacturing and quality control procedures. As long as bags are cut and sewn by people, some human errors will occur.
If you are one of the unlucky ones you will want to experience and easy claim process for quick repair or replacement. So what is more important, a life time warranty or a no gimmicks ease of use claim procedure that gets you the bag you paid for? It is very rare that after years of use a bag will suddenly break from a defect, however you do expect to get reasonable use of your new bag before a manufacturer claims wear and tear.

Defects normally happen in batches be it from a rogue sewer, a poorly cut stack of fabric, a bad batch of zippers or buckles, etc and there is a good chance when you make a claim a manufacturer might already be aware of the problem and have a quick solution.
Social media gives the consumer tremendous networking power today and any reputable manufacturer who plans to be around for a while will offer the customer a decent warranty experience. But be warned! Without a receipt or proof of purchase you are relying purely on the manufacturer’s generosity. There are many ways to pick up a bag second hand at shows, on the internet or at unauthorized dealers, so protect yourself against disappointment and have some compassion for the reputable manufacturer, who would sincerely like to help you if you give them the one things they need to do so.
